Rotary Club of Okigwe embarked on a tree planting campaign across the entire Okigwe local government to sensitise the public on the need to protect the environment.
The message is that for every tree that we bring down, two new trees should be planted. Besides the well know importance of trees, they also help to filter the air that we breath by serving as a carbon sink, they and other plants make use of carbon iv oxide especially those found in our atmosphere and in turn releases oxygen for the consumption of Man and animals.
Trees also serve as wind breakers, they are equally used as buffers to reduce noise pollution in urban areas. Tree protect our climate and is necessary for life.
