The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Collins Chiji representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency has been impeached. The Imo Law Makers accused him of financial impropriety, high handedness and gross misconduct,
among others. The motion for his impeachment moved on the floor of the house on Friday, was supported by 19 members of the house out of a total of 27. Having impeached him, the house members went on to elect Hon. Paul Emeziem of Onuimo Constituency as the new Speaker, the members present at plenary thereafter proceeded to the government house on a courtesy call on the Governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodimma. The former Speaker is yet to react openly.
